The Reveal!

What were we guessing?

Me? I think...due to conception time and heart rate, it's a girl.
Jordan? He thought twins because heart rates got real hard to detect the night before the ultrasound.
My mom, thinks it's a girl because she craves mexican food.
My dad, thinks it's a girl due to high heart rate.
My friend and THE best massage therapist and reiki master BJ Babcock thinks it's a girl after "playing" with the baby during week 17 which felt FANTASTIC!!!
Loving sis'n'law, Dixee thinks it's a boy due to genetics.
Angela thinks it's a girl.
Gabi hopes it's a boy and thinks it's a boy because I wasn't very sick!
Jean and Judy think a girl.
Owner of Country Yarns and dear friend Theresa thinks it's a boy.
Vanessa thinks it's a girl because this alien isn't moving much and I've not been sick.
My favorite checker at Safeway thinks it's a boy because I've not been sick and craved both salty and sweet foods. If I've left you out, let me know and I'll add you to this fun list. Now, lets find out (if you haven't already scanned below to see!)

The ultrasound went great. Linda, our U/S tech got me gooped up on the table, turned everything on, and she started scooting her little wand around. Right away she stopped it and said "well, would you like to know what you're having?" ( I thought she meant that she wondered if it was okay if she used pronouns like "his little heart looks great" and "her little bladder is full which means her kidneys are working fine" sort of thing") but she had actually found out within the first few seconds what we were having. What a crowd pleasing immodest little one we have! She asked me what I thought it was. I told her as I told you above that my hundred bucks was betting on a girl, but that it was only based on statistics, not on "feelings." She said "well, you're right!" So, in August we'll be welcoming little Evy Rose (short for Evelena Rose) into our home and hearts and we are just thrilled.

Thank you Dad and Mom for coming up for that appointment. I'm so glad you accepted my invitation as I really wanted you there to make sure it was all going to be alright. I appreciate your support with all my needless worries. All the measurements went great and Evy is in the 34th percentile for size, which means she's on the small side which is great the doctor said. They don't want her to be in the lowest tenth percentile, or the highest tenth as that means too little or too big. They said perfection is within the 30th and 60th. I found out the reason I'm not feeling kicks so much is because the placenta is anterior and that means that Evy has lots of cushion in the front to shock absorb her kicks and punches. Too bad other places aren't shock absorbed because that's quite a surprise sometimes! This also means that Jordan and others will find it difficult to feel kicks too.

Want to know how they can tell if it's a boy or girl from an ultrasound? I thought it was pretty cool! I always thought they looked for a penis and testicles and that if they didn't find them, then you were having a girl, but that's not so! They can detect the labia of a girl thru ultrasound and we've got pics here of them. You'll see a pic with three big white dots (hip bones and coccyx??) and an arrow pointing in the middle of them. Look for the two small white lines! That's it right there! Confirmation!! Pretty neat eh? You see her legs shooting off to the left? Coooool!

And here I am at my 5 and a half month mark. It's 22 weeks tomorrow! I love this new top! Usually portraits are a little more planned than this one, but I was doing it by myself with my tripod and running out into the yard each time and posing was getting difficult. I wonder what my neighbors thought! "Why is she running out there and posing?" because the camera was really close to the house and no one would have seen it. It probably appeared as though I was running out, looking at the house and running back in. It was hard not to crack myself up....and now I think it's time for a nap before I hit the gym. Goodnight everyone!

Overdue Thank You!

Four weeks ago, Jordan's youngest brother Jeremy came to visit (and take and pass his police prereq tests!!! CONGRATS!) and in his car he hauled a load of goodies from their mom, my MIL Pam! Our baby is so lucky to have such generosity in our family! Thank you Pam for sending these goodies along! There were two super soft minky crib sheets ( shown above the Activity Station- which is the coolest one I've ever seen!), three bibs, four blankets, two bath towels, two swaddle blankets, and a zipper sleepset, along with four new toys one of which is a monkey which we just love. The elephant is so cute and that darn dog. The elephant and dog have a nice bell in them too that won't get on our nerves like squeekers in Jack's toys! The surfing duck has LOTS of fun sounds, crackles and textures to play with and it snaps onto car seats, and strollers so I'm pleased about not having to chase this little guy around for our baby.
Thank you Pam for sending these surprises up to us to congratulate us on our pregnancy. Things are going really well as it's already week 21!!
I'll post pics soon of my growing belly and announce what we're expecting if we haven't already spoken on the phone or thru email, once I get the ultrasounds back from Jordan. He left them at work after showing them off. Silly proud daddy showing off our baby's bits!
Check back soon and thanks for the calls this week folks, it was excited to see how many people had our ultrasound dated on their calendar and it just absolutely meant the world to us.
Congrats Jeremy and I just know you'll do great on your upcoming interviews for Police Academy in counties near us! Thank you for bringing these new toys for us to play with. They are all washed up and ready to put away, once we figure out the nursery furniture and themes.
See ya'll in the funny pages...
