Back in the Swing of things!

And I couldn't be happier! When Jordan and I were dating, we were dancing about 2 nights a week, sometimes more, but rarely less, for more than a year! Then we got married and moved and something changed, we got busy, we didn't know the community, job changes, and so on. We've been out of the dance scene for more than a year and I've been missing it. Jordan and I decided to hop back into it and go out dancing. We went to Danceworks Studio in Redmond for a level 3 West Coast Swing Series lesson one night. Later in the week we went to Kirkland Dance Center for an intermediate WCS lesson and dance, and then the next night, we checked out Century Ballroom in Seattle to see if we want to pick up Lindy again there since they seem to be the only place offering it up here. We are LOVING it. The instructors have been great and we're remembering what we can. We can always fall back on East Coast Swing and the small repertoire of moves ( oh, about 20?) we have there, but I had totally forgotten my favorite dance, the lindyhop. So, we're starting over in that series...dammit. We were up to level 3 instruction at one time and also into the Balboa dances too. I've found a venue up here for Blues dancing, but so far I don't see a level 1, but maybe when our schedule clears even more I can talk Jordan into that one since I know he loves that one as well.

I have to say still that I miss the Portland venues and people that we used to dance with. The Century Ballroom is just so much older than the Portland Viscount, and the instructors well...I miss my Brenda and Brian and all the others there. The Century Ballroom was so crowded and people were actually trying to show off and do aerials. I thought it was so rude. It seemed like leads were not watching where they went themselves or where they sent their follows and so I was kicked more than I used to be, or ever remember. Maybe because it was an underage night that we went. The CB has dances from 9:30 till 12:30 on a Sunday night ( all ages ) and a wednesday night (over 21). These are some die-hards that can do this and still go to work in the morning! So, I'd love to say that this week coming we're going to check out the Wed. night dance, but Casey McGill is coming on Sunday, so we'll brave the crowds again because that is some kick-ass swing. If anyone else knows of places to go around Seattle for dancing, please leave a comment, we'd love to find more places and people.

Washington Apple!

Thank you Jordan for taking the pic of me and this sweet little hat.
Fall weather is arriving up here in Monroe, the leaves are changing colors and the crisp wind is really picking up. I've gotten into the spirit in my knitting too. Apples are a sign of the season right? Jordan's Brother Matt and his wife Dixee are expecting their first baby and so I knit this cute little newborn hat for them and sent it this week as a surprise. Isn't it cute? I loved making it and I can't wait to see pics of the li'l sweet tator with it on.

What will people think of when making patterns for babies? We shall see....I couldn't help but go through a bunch of knitting books today for babies, so we'll see what I come up with!

This one just is so cute to me, "Made in Washington" takes on a whole new meaning!
